My mum brought me this cute door sign she had found in the local market. No need to say that this went straight to our front door :D
It says "I live here"

I love it!

As a side note, I wish my dad taught me the Finnish language when I was young but he was too lazy. He's now forgotten it.

My grandparents knew polish AND Hungarian. Lucky me, they taught me about 4 words between the two languages. *sigh* the older my grandma gets though the more I hear her mutter small polish phrases. I always wonder what they mean!

That door sign is precious! I love it Chiana

awww...well, Finnish is such a language that is hardly spoken outside the country so many just forget it :) My bf is English, but his mum is born in Finland. He learnt some Finnish as a child, never used it though, but somehow now when we have been together the language just re-surfaced. Now after couple of years he speaks almost like a native :)

My grandma spoke quite a bit Russia, but never really taught us kids. Now it would have been so useful, especially here in eastern Finland where we have lots of Russian tourist and it is a must for most employees as well.

Good for him! There are a lot of Finns in Thunder Bay, ON, Canada and my dad is one of them. His family has all passed away so he never speaks it anymore.

Sorry to hi-jack your thread! :ashamed:

No worries at all! I recall some of my old relatives, like great grandma etc relocating to Canada loooong time ago. I believe it was somewhere close to Niagara Falls region. Never really heard the reason...probably for work. All passed away as well.
