Hi all,

I'm thinking of getting a frenchie but read online they can very quickly drown. I have a swimming pool in my back yard. I'm guessing if I was to get a frenchie I'd have to put a safety gate up around it or not let him/her in the yard around the pool?

I want to get one and put those pit balls in it! There is a video of a frenchie playing in one online and he's having a blast!

Yes, I would definitely put a gate around it and always supervise!
Frenchie can (and sadly many have) drown quickly; even if they are able to stay up for a bit, especially a puppy wont be able to get out of the water by himself and eventually go under.

Frenchies around water is like kids around water. Always watch them like a hawk and be ready to interfere if needed!

I would for sure put a fence up! Frenchies are not good swimmers! Any frenchie I've ever seen at the beach or around water has been in a life jacket.
If you have a fence it will eliminate the worry and stress. So yeah I would say a fence would be necessary for sure.

I agree with the fence. Mine loves water but has NO interest in being deep enough where he has to swim. He lays on the top step in our pool and absolutely will not go further. Even knowing this we watch him like a hawk anytime he's near the pool. It's just too risky.

I agree with the others, put up a fence. Frenchies are not good swimmers and will sink easily.

I agree with the others to DEFINITELY get a fence. We are fortunate and our swimming pool is down below us on a different level and the we have double gates they would have to get through to go down there. Well Jake anyways, Stella is afraid to go down the stairs.
