Is it safe to give fresh garlic to a pregnant dog to repel ticks? I found one on her stomach today.

Garlic: Friend Or Foe? - Dogs Naturally Magazine

I read about feeding small amount of garlic is good for dogs and I have been feeding them to my dogs. They are on 100% raw meals.

Not too sure about pregnant bitches?

I don't know that much about garlic and dogs, but have read some of the info on it. I would check with your vet so see what he thinks. I do not give it to ours, but is does sound like it is a benefit to them.

I thought garlic was bad for dogs... will have to do some reading

Garlic is a controversial ingredient in many dog foods as well. In small amounts, some believe it can be beneficial to dogs. Too much can be toxic.

I found this article on garlic for dogs: https://www.springtimeinc.com/Garlic-Talk. It looks like it depends on the amount, as mentioned in the comment above. There is a section in this article about garlic for pregnant, nursing, and newborn animals. I hope this helps!

I have noticed, that in the States, garlic is thought to be bad for dogs. I regularly buy supplements for my dogs on Amazon and don't see any garlic tablets like I do on Amazon UK. My boy has erlichia, so he needs a tick preventative and even though I don't like using the chemical kind, our summers in Manila dictate that I do. But when the weather is rainy and milder, I've been giving him garlic tablets, a U.K. brand, as maintenance. I have to say it works, he may pick up the odd 1-2 when we go out on walks, but he's relatively tick free and in very good health too. So I say garlic is fine in proper doses.
