Hello all. I have a 4 month old frenchie who loves to play a little rough from time to time, an well now I noticed his ear is drooping and when he runs its sorta flaps around. What can I do to help him? It hurts him when we touch the base of his ear. Some have told me that it will heal in its own but I don't know. I don't want him left with a droopy ear. 😟 Thanks

If it hurts when you touch the base of his ear, I would be worried about an ear infection. I would have him looked at by a Veterinarian. As far as the ear drooping, I'm not sure if that is related or what's going on, but I would definitely take him in to be looked at.

I agree. If it hurts, you might want a vet to look at it. Maybe the drooping is related to an infection of some sort?

I agree with the others, a vet visit is in order, might be an infection, and once that is fixed the ear should go back up on it's own.

Thanks all for your help. Its just that we seen when he did get injured so we weren't sure if it may just be sore and it would heal on its own...but a vet visit is definitely in order to rule out any other possibilities. Thanks again.

Oh, I'm sorry I didn't realize that you saw the ear get injured. I would still get it looked out. Are there any visible wounds?

Definitely get him checked out. The drooping may not be related, as I've seen it happen to several Frenchies. Their ears are just so big that sometimes it's hard to keep the weight up as they grow! I know they're one of the signature features of the breed, but if his end up being droopy, just embrace it as one of his quirks!

Yes I agree with the others that a vet should take a look at it just to make sure there isn't a hemotoma or some other injury that you can't see.

agree -- vet to ensure there is nothing going on like infection
