I've had Bella 3 months. She's a rescue dog in Dallas. I need help BADLY! I have experience with dogs but...the french bull dog is a completely different way of "doing things" breed. I love her so much but she is very very aggressive torwards other animals. I have gone through everything I know how to help her and I've come to the conclusion that I have to accept Bella for Bella. Absolutely no other animals EVER as long as I have Bella.

This would have been okay but......I have animals that come over regulararily to visit me for many years and since Bella has come..., I'm sad to say that I get no visits anymore from my other canine "kids" this just breaks my heart. Everytime they come over Bella turns into a ...."devil"!!! She is awful! This is soooo putting it mildly. And hours after they leave she paces the yard. She stresses soooo much having other animals around it's just not worth it. I have to adopt her back out. I love her soooo much. But I can't put her or the others through the stress. Help!
I have her up for adoption again but I'm just heart broken about it. Do you think she'll change if I continue to work with her? What's the best way to break her from basically wanting to "kill" anything that comes in our yard? Thanks so much anything is appreciated!

Have you worked with a trainer? If you can't make progress on your own, that would be my first recommendation. Maybe you need a professional to help you. I hope it works out.

First off I hope you keep her in the house and not outside all the time, as Frenchies are not outside dogs. Second sometimes training will help, but sometimes it doesn't. There are some that once they get it in their head, you will never get it out. We had an English Bulldog that was the sweetest thing you could ever ask for, but she just hated other dogs period, and there was nothing you were going to do to change that, we tried. I hope you can find her a good home soon. In the mean time, when people come over with their dogs, just crate her in a room away from everyone, until they leave.

Have u tried to take bella to meet a biger dog? I have had a frenchie and he was always the first one to go away from beeing agressiv becuse they usaly are, maby she had a bad experiance before u got here,so maby she is protecting you..they usaly are werry playfull, maby u should just take it slow, take here where there is more then one dog and not at your hous, she can also react laik that becuse she protects here house..i hope it works out for you,i want one more and i just hope it does not get agressiv whit other dogs

Yes I've worked with the trainer at Petco but I was told that I need to basically accept Bella for who she is and that they would make special arrangements to meet privately for training.

Yes..., She has no fear of bigger dogs. She has no fear of anything! My mother brought her dog over to see if she would get along with her but she didn't. Bella has a way of bringing the worst out of other dogs. I don't know what it is but even when dogs are behind a fence they get real aggressive torwards her. My mothers dog is very obedient and sweet. But she wasn't when she was faced with Bella. My mother said she has never seen her dog do that before. I think your right about taking her to a different house. That's the only thing I havent tried. I really hate giving her up because she really is wonderful. I don't know anything of her past but I never will. I just feel something bad happened and that's one reason she's like this. Thank you very much for you answering my post. I too want more than one frenchie but I don't dare with Bella..

I do keep her in the house 95% of the time. If she goes outside it's always with me and I keep a baby pool full of water and she uses it to stay cool. She hates being inside without me. I have to work outside it's my occupation. So she comes out with me but besides the pool, I keep a close watch and we go inside very often. I have crated her in a different room. I hate it! She gets soooo stressed out. She pottys all over her bedding. She gets real anxious. Then after they leave she constantly looks around for hours trying to find them. I hate that. I wanted another frenchie to be her companion but that's a no go either. I've tried to introduce her to another frenchie and it turned out disasterous! Thank you for your reply! I really do appreciate it.

Look into a private trainer, a dog behaviorist. There is a chance you can help her listen to you and change the behavior, my EB is like this, but we were able to work in our Frenchie... it took weeks for her to accept him and months before they would play. Cheli knows when banks is in no mood for him and he stays clear in another part of the hose, he will not even enter the room she is in and we are 3 yrs into them being together. Fine a GOOD trainer/behaviorist and see what the evaluation is,but as david stated some dogs are just meant to be the only dog.
