holistic diets for dogs question please

I have been reading a lot of the post on here on which dog foods commercially that are being fed and I noticed that a lot of you like natures variety instinct limited ingredients and some of the frozen raw meat I looked up the limited ingredients and the protein content is very high 29% protein nobody's having a problem with with their Frenchy's consuming this higher protein content I was always told by the vet that they didn't need that much protein please advise looking for information want to change to something a little healthier than the blue Buffalo lamb and rice grain free diet . I've always been told that the first ingredient needs to be me like lamb chicken turkey etc. I notice on the nature of variety instinct limited ingredients it's chicken meal lamb meal, what your opinions on this . thank you for your time appreciate all the comments and info
