Hi all! My boyfriend and I are starting to become a little suspicious that Hudson was younger than previously stated by the breeder when we got him. We didn't find him until the litter was ready for pickup, so we didn't get the 6 week photos or the baby baby photos or anything.

Anyone with puppy experience care to guess his age around when we got him? I want to see if I'm being crazy or not! I won't say how old he was according to the breeder yet.

Oh and to add he was around 2-3 pounds.

Was the breeder marketing them as "toy" Frenchies or anything like that?

You could also use the album on my profile to compare. I have a timeline album for Bear's early growth.

Comparing to the hand in the first picture I would say maybe 6-7 weeks in this one?
We visited Maple when she was 5 weeks and this is how big she was

But she had two siblings that were much smaller and one brother that was much bigger. They all grow at a different rate.. Did you see any of his sibling? If so what size where they?

Nope, just regular. Parents were normal (20 and 24 pounds).

I'll check out your album, thank you!

He was the last one, but they said he was the runt. Eek, I would feel so terrible if he was that young.

Well his ears are up...he just looks so tiny in these pictures!

He was sooo tiny. That's a week or two after I got him... But his ears were definitely up..

He's "7 months" and 20 pounds now, so him being that small seems unlikely. Breeder put him at 11 weeks in the first two I posted..

11 weeks in the first two pics? That seems unlikely..but I wasnt there in person. Maybe he was 11 weeks..nobody knows for sure. When we visited Maple at 5 weeks her ears were up as well. They just flopped back when she slept (as u can tell on the pics) but when she was awake they were standing up. I think there were only two siblings that still had floppy ears at that time.

That's what we think too. His papers say he was born 11/9 but we're just not buying it. Obviously he turned out fine but it would make sense that he's younger in the demonstrated maturity sense.

It's hard to tell from the pic, but he could have been about 9 to 10 weeks old. So far all of our pups have all had their ears but by week 5. Here is a pic of Henri when he was 9 weeks old. Maybe that will help.

And here is one at 5 weeks old.

One thing. I noticed with Pierce, is his legs did not start getting very long until he was around 10-11 weeks old. Since. Hudson's look longer in those pictures, he may be close to 11 months, but the weight seems really low for that age. He has definitely made up for it! Pierce had a sister that weighed 4.3 lbs at 7 weeks and I thoughts he was small!

I think it's hard for me to tell since Hudson's build is so different from the typical Frenchie. He has never been the short stocky type, but rather long limbed and backed (which I like and so does our vet).

The weight seems especially suspicious to me since he is by no means small now. I think he was probably born with the longer legs and back, especially since as he's grown they've stayed very consistent. He is definitely built more like the older "style" Frenchie.
