(I've posted threads on here before about this, so thank you to anyone who previously replied, but I usually look at my phone and given that I'm not too with it when it comes to technology, lol, I can't find my old threads!)

After two weeks of doing really well, Ell's food allergies are back. I'm so confused at this point because I've had to switch her food 3 times in three months.

These are the food we've tried altogether, and she's had problems with all of them. Vital, Primal, Stella & Chewys, Performatrim Limited ingredient, Pedigree (Ugh, I know. Thank her breeder), The Honest Kitchen, Acana, and Sojos. Those are only the ones I remember. She's allergic to potatoes (white not sweet), most grains, quinoa, anything fish (particually herring and sardines) , certain types of beef, turkey and chicken, duck and also lamb. Not all types bother her. The only thing we haven't tried is Fromm.

We were doing okay on the Honest Kitchen, and then I started to notice that she seemed to have to go out constantly and was very agitated. I think maybe it gave her reflux, and she started spitting up after eating it. So we unfortunately had to go cold turkey (I know that's not good but she was so unhappy) and switch to Vital. She's still having bathroom issues and broke out in fresh red bumps and hotspots after a week.

Should I just cook for her? I was going to start doing that months ago when I posted my thread about homecooking but I came across THK and thought we'd try it. Does anyone have a list of what they put in their Frenchies' cooked meals? I don't know where to start. We've been through the ringer with all our dogs' stomachs.

Sorry you are dealing with this. I know how frustrating it can be. What proteins have you tried? Jax seems to do the best with "novel" proteins. Also, it could take awhile for all of the different foods to fully get out of her system.

Wow, you've tried it all! To me it just screams leaky gut syndrom, also called dysbiosis.
When the gut lining has little holes in it,no matter what food you feed, it all eventually 'leaks through' into the bloodstream where it causes antibodies to fight it which in turn causes a reaction to this food.

Have you ever had a food sensitivity test done? I can highly recommend Nutriscanby Dr. Jean Dodds. If it comes back with a reaction to pretty much everything (which it sounds like) you are very likely dealing with leaky gut.

Good LORD, you have been around the block! By any chance, did you call THK -- their customer service is fantastic and you might be able to get some info from them on what to use? If you decide to try Fromm... look at Pork/Peas, I think it meets all your 'no' list. Otherwise, best of luck on the homecooking... I have never tried that so have no experience to share, but will sned lots of positive thoughts and prayers that you can find the right fit for your baby.

Awe I am sorry you are dealing with this!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you find something that works soon!

Wen buy a pre portioned raw food with everything already in it to take away from the complicated ness of it all

Some of it could be seasonal allergies as well. Right now they are pretty bad. Also try FROMM 4 Star Lamb and Lentils. It is a grain free food. We feed FROMM Hasen Duckenpfeffer, but if has potatoes in it, but ours do well on it. Hope your baby gets better. You might also try giving Temaril p for his allergies. We give JLO one tablet every day for her allergies.

Thank you guys for all the good vibes.

We're actually doing pretty good here :)! I really considering trying the Fromm, but I wanted to give cooking a shot first. So I made her organic ground beef, egg and some veggies cooked together - Sure enough, her bathroom problems fixed themselves in one day! We've been switching proteins the last few days depending on what I'm making, but at least I know what's in her food. She's really doing better and now she comes to get me at mealtimes lol - I think I created a monster. I am going to get her a few supplements once her stomach seems completely healed - probably Nuvet or Hardy's (?).

Eggshells are good for calcium.

I fostered a dog with IBD (inflammatory bowel disease) and, after allergy testing, settled on raw goat (a blend of ground meat, organ, and bone) that was ordered through Hare Today at https://hare-today.com/.

My newest foster also has some intestinal issues, possibly IBD as well, and the specialist recommended a novel protein with a fiber source. Most are prescription diets but there was one that was suggested that is over the counter- Nature's Choice, Bison and Potato. (However, your dog is allergic to potatoes). Other novel proteins you could try are rabbit or kangaroo.

The specialist did not recommend raw for my foster, partly because of the fear of contamination, but we may still try it. I am going to try raw beef 95% with 5% pumpkin.

These are the supplements that FBRN uses for their foster dogs:

Nordic Naturals Omega 3 pet soft gels
Dog-Zymes Ultimate (vitamins)
Dog-Zymes Probiotic Max

Meeka seemed to have food allergies to grain and chicken so we switched her to a Raw diet ( going on about a month now ) and we have only been giving her turkey-salmon and her server itching has stopped. We live in Canada so we buy pre-package raw called "big country raw:

So we've been trying beef/turkey/veal with veggies for a week. She's doing really good still - aside from the hotspots! She's not eating anything with a lot of yeast and absolutely nothing with grains, so i'm a little concerned.

This picture is actually not Ella but it's exactly what her stomach looks like. It's only on her lower abdomen/legs. She has been to the vet last month for an ear infection and they weren't overly concerned, but I don't know if they were as bad as they are now. Could they be seasonal?

If they are oozing and crusty then I would think it is some sort of infection. Have you taken her to a dermatologist?

Jax got sores like that on the same area when he was fed turkey. After a few days of taking him off the kibble, the sores changed colors and turned blackish (someone warned me that would happen) but eventually went away. I soaked a cotton ball with diluted povidone iodine and cleaned the sores. To me, it looks like an allergy. I would change to a single, novel protein and no veggies for awhile to see if that helps. If it clears up, you can reintroduce things one at a time on a weekly basis to see if there are an reactions.

Agreed. It looks like an allergy to me as well. Either from the food or seasonal. Try the limited ingredient/ single protein route and see if that helps to clear them up. If not, Radar has seasonal allergies with similar pustuals and the vet put him on Apoquell. They cleared up almost immediately.

**UPDATE**

I took Ellie out in our grass yesterday and forgot to wipe her legs down after she came back. A few hours later, I noticed she broke out in more hot spots/hives. I'm guessing she's allergic to grass - among other things!
She was doing much better. It's slow progress (as you all know I'm sure!) and it could always be a lot worse. I was wondering though; is the Benadryl cream safe? Or just the tablets?

I guess it's going to be pavement from now on. Oh well. :) 20160603_150022.jpg
