Hi all,

We just found out today that our Stanley has a mild case of IVDD. He was dragging his back legs a bit and loosing his balance so we took him in for x rays. The vet gave us anti inflammatory medication and told us to monitor him for a month and make sure he is not going up stairs, jumping off of the couch, etc. I am happy that he just has a mild case, but it has been so sad to see him barely able to walk or keep his balance the past few days. Does anyone have any suggestions on recovery for this? I would like to try anything I can. Thank you!

my boy has it as well, we give Movoflex daily as a joint supplement and go for monthly laser sessions to maintain the inflammation. Ask your vet about laser, it is awesome as is the movoflex....

My boy was diagnosed in July and had to have surgery to repair a herniated disc in his neck. If your boy is dragging his legs, I would probably take him to see a neurologist. Jax’s surgery was within a week of him showing symptoms. He is good now and we limit him jumping on and off the couch as much as possible and we carry him up and down the stairs. There will always be a chance for a reoccurrence. I also take him for monthly acupuncture treatments.

Some supplements you can try, increase dose gradually to these final amounts:
1/2 tsp of powdered ginger and 1 tsp of turmeric ( plus added ground pepper for absorption ) added to dog food twice daily.
Organic virgin coconut oil 1 tsp added to food twice daily.
Hemp seed oil ( if feeding beef, not if feeding poultry ) Dose give 3 times a week based on dog's weight: 10 lbs = 1ml,20 lbs = 1.5ml,30 lbs = 2ml
Fish oil ( if not feeding fish )- about 300 mg DHA/EPA daily for a 30 pound dog, will need to give natural source Vitamin E 400IU once weekly if giving fish oil daily.

My frenchie went through this, they gave him steroids and a lot of rest. Also got a Assisi loop and I use to use it twice a day when he was healing but now I use it every other day or third day and he is fine right now. Hopefully he gets better!

I have been giving him movoflex on top of his medication. I will have to look into the laser I have never heard of it thank you so much!
