Kevin was surrendered to FBRN because his family could not afford his medical issues. Kevin has spinal deterioration which really just means that he has some back issues that will need to be monitored. Right now they manifest as dragging his toes a bit when he walks. This does not prevent him from getting around, however. He's currently getting physical therapy to treat his back and is doing very well with it! Kevin's new family will have to be committed to continuing on with his PT. Let us know about your experience with dogs who need a little extra care in your application.
Kevin's foster mom describes him as Romeo! He loves to follow her around the house and has really taken to her. He is affectionate with his foster dad but seems to have a thing for the ladies!
The perfect home for Kevin might have another dog or two his size for him to play with; he seems to like dogs about his size and smaller, and he doesn't care for the big guys. Kevin currently snoozes the day away with the senior dogs in his home, but he will play with other dogs when given the chance! And when he sees another dog walking by the house, he loves to tell you about it. It's like he's saying, "Hey mom! There's a dog out there for me to play with!"
Kevin has not been tested with cats in his foster home, but his surrendering owners say he was good with them.
Kevin does well with kids and likes to play. However, because of Kevin's spinal issues, older kids would be best. They need to be aware of the fact that Kevin can't be picked up quickly or handled roughly.
This handsome frog loves to chew on antlers or hooves and he's been known to carry his stuffy around with him. He's not really a "fetch" kind of dog so he doesn't need a fenced yard to keep him happy. He just likes to follow his person around the house or the yard.
Kevin is 100% house-broken, reports his foster mom. She says that even when he was suffering from the dreaded tummy-troubles he did not have one accident in the house! Atta-boy Kevin!
Kevin is also crate-trained. He does not seem to mind hanging out in his crate when his people are gone, but he'd also do fine with the run of the house. He does not need someone to be home with him all day long and would do fine with a mid-day potty-break while you're at work. Although if you wanted to take Kevin to work with you, we don't think he'd complain. His foster mom works from home sometimes and she reports that he hangs out quietly in her office.
Really, Kevin is so easy-going he would do fine with any kind of home situation. House, condo, or apartment would be fine by him. He does not need a fenced in yard so long as you have a place where you can take him for walks and to do his business.
First time Frenchie owners could work. Just make sure you read up on potential Frenchie back issues so that you understand Kevin's health issues.
