Low Platelet

They’re testing right now but what they think is from ticks

- - - Updated - - -

We’re giving him medicine

If it's from ticks, hopefully the antibiotic ( usually doxycycline ) will clear it up. It's hard to increase platelets- usually you would have to give platelet transfusion to raise it. If the low platelets was from autoimmune disease you could use corticosteroids or intravenous immune globulin.

I’ve also read that iron will help, should I feed him chicken liver with his meals?

If he's also anemic I would, otherwise I wouldn't bother since usually low iron levels produce high platelet levels, not low platelet levels. You're probably better off with beef liver just in case your dog is allergic to chicken.

I don't know anything about this topic, but I hope your boy is doing better!

Update:

Dr recounted blood manually and his platelets are fine. At first they used an automatic machine that counts it but he said sometimes platelets stick together and count as one. So he recounted them manually and now they are good. Thank you guys for info and support! :D
