Need to talk about DM your thoughts on it

Hi everyone I thought I would just put this out there and see what the frenchie world thinks about DM. I have recently fell in love with a beautiful chocolate sable girl that I would love to purchase BUT it has come to my attention that she carries 1 gene of dm and I don't know how I feel about it. She would have been a perfect companion for one of my boys. And all of my frenchies are 100% DM FREE if you guys could share your thoughts on this it would be much appreciated thanks

Why would you be afraid if she carries one gene it is biologically a recessive treat so both male and female must have it to past it on. And as a carrier there is no reason to believe the dog will get dm

Hi thanks for the reply. if she gives the gene to a couple of her pups and then that pup is mated to a male who has it then there is a high chance that pup could suffer as a result later on in life. That's what I'm getting at. To me it has really put a ? Over this girl

If that is the case then I probably wouldn't breed her.

If you plan on breeding her the pups will be 50/50 half carrier half clear it's risky business. I wouldn't breed her just out of good conscious.

Thanks guys it's a shame Iv been looking for a beautiful companion for my boy flex and she ticked all the boxes for us. Ow well thanks for the advice everyone.
