New Acana Food

Do you mean the Pork, Lamb & Duck?
They have been around for a little while. They are a good option if you want to make a kibble based elimination diet for example.

I've used all three. Bentley likes them.
I switch Bentley's kibble daily between different Acana lines.
Keeps him interested in the food. Only one he hasn't drove into was the Pacifica (fish, but it wasn't one of the ones from the singles line) I had to mix the pork singles (like a 1/4 cup) with the Pacifica and he downed it all.

I like Acana as a company. They're local to me and the ingredient list makes sense. Their Orijen line is also considered good quality, although higher in protein. People are of differing opinions about the optimal protein level for moderately active dogs.

The real benefit of the Acana Singles is that they contain only one source of protein, and you know exactly what it is. This way you can evaluate dogs with food sensitivities or outright allergies. Our pug girl has had skin allergies her whole life (scabs and thick black skin on her belly/armpits), and she does well on food that contains only duck as protein. So we are currently feeding her Fromm Four-Star Duck and Sweet Potato. Her skin is basically clear at the moment. While we haven't tried it yet, the Acana Duck & Bartlett Pear would also be right up her alley. We like to rotate foods once in a while.

For Junior the Frenchie puppy, we currently feed Acana Grasslands from their Regionals line. It's chicken- and grain-free, just to see if some redness on the skin between his toes improves. It has four different protein sources: lamb, duck, eggs, and fish. If we see no improvement with this, we might try one of the singles.

Cheers,
Lisa

I tried the Pork and Butternut squash as an allergy food trial for Stella. She liked it, but still scratched and it gave her gas. So it was back to Amicus for us.

The website says this is a new line. also appears to be cheaper but also only has a rating of 4 stars, so was just asking. Rosie is on Acana Grasslands

It's a little cheaper. But also smaller bags. For example. Instead of a 5lb bag it's 4.4lbs.

We started Jax on this brand. We've tried 3 different brands and we have narrowed it down to he is allergic to anything with wings :) So the Acana Pacifica is perfect because it just has fish in it. He also loves it when we mix it with rice and beef chunks and green beans. But so far it is a pretty good brand.
