Hello All,

Hoping to find some advice here :) we have an amazing 2 year old male frenchie who is super mellow, affectionate and loves other dogs.

We are looking add another frenchie to our family, it will be a pup just 8 weeks old. Any advice please on whether it’s best to get a male or female?

Thanks!

Welcome! I like having one of each but it's just a personal preference. It sounds like your frenchie will be fine with either a male or female if she's mellow and not overly dominant.

Good luck in your search!

Welcome! Some people prefer one of each. 2 males can be okay as long as they both know you are the alpha. I have two males (French and English Bulldog) and I’ve never had any major issues.

In general I would steer clear of two females together. I know people who have experienced success with multiple females in the same home, but in my opinion the best placement is with male/female or two laid back males. I've always had males together with zero issues. Ultimately any combo can work as long as both dogs aren't dominant. You can let them work out minor skirmishes, but problems occur when neither one will back down.

We have a almost two year old male and have just got another French bulldog puppy a few weeks ago, we decided to get another male to avoid annoying humping habbit's and they both get on really well. Like another poster has said as long as they both know you are the alpha everything should be fine.
