Hello and good day. So, I got new puppy recently and took him home last month. Everything was good till I gave him his new food. He was on rachel rays beef, pea and brown rice. I felt that was no good and gave him hills diet puppy with lamb, rice and peas. Saturday comes he threw up each meal. Wasn't drink much water. I talked to two vets said to give bland diet. Since then he has been throwing up. Went to the vet twice. They gave him nausea, hills diet prescription food and vomiting meds yesterday. Along with Parvo test. Parvo came back negative. Today he threw up twice. Went back did fecal test, showing high count of parasite. Not sure will call back Wednesday with results. Gave him different vomiting med by shot. Also fluids along with deworming meds and parasite med. We're both wore out of the vet visits. Please help. I don't want to rehome but if the visits get to much then I will.

When you switched his food did you do it gradually or stop the Rachel rays and start the Science hill? If the issue started with switching the food maybe switch him back since you know he tolerated the Rachel rays. See if that helps if the vomiting stops then you know he has a sensitivity to something in the science hill food. the parasite can be a cause for vomiting as they irritate the lining of the stomach. I personally would prob keep him on the bland diet until his parasites are taken care see if they alone are the cause of the vomiting then work on his food tolerances. hang in there I know it can be exhausting but they are so worth it once everything is straightened out and he is feeling better you both can get the bonding time you need.

Hills is not good food…. Once he is over the parasites.. go to a high quality kibble like Open Farm, Zingnature or Orijen. They all offer single protein limited ingredients. Try duck or turkey.

Raw is best but not all are able or want to feed it.

Hello doesn't have parasites. Per vet test results. But I didn't gradually change his food over. Bought old food yesterday and he threw up once in the evening after playing to hard. He threw up clear liquid with food this morning. He regurgitated his food while I was holding. He then decided to eat again. Should I keep the food away or allow him to eat. I'm at my whits end with the vomiting. Called the vet this morning and they said he is ok. Just keep an eye out. But it's likely the abrupt food change caused him to vomit. Upsetting his tummy.

Yea, anytime you change foods do so gradually over a week start 25% new food to 75% old then monitor for any adverse reactions then increase it until your finally over to the new food. If the vet is thinking it's the new foods due to his belly being sensitive right now. I would prob feed him smaller proportions ( of the old food) at more frequent intervals as to not overwhelm is digestive tract. So many Frenchie's are allergic to chicken and turkey and a lot of the fillers in kibble dog food such as peas and corn. It can be hard to find the right food without being patient and being consistent unless you have allergy testing done. I agree 2 bully mommas on look for a quality food that is a single protein and limited ingredients. we've been lucky that one of ours does well on acana limited ingredient lamb and apples. the other has so many allergies he is on badland ranch.
