Hello Everyone!

I've been lurking these boards for a couple of weeks & I've decided to make a account in hope of great advice & help from you experts out there.

I've just received new pictures of my Frenchie from my breeder ( He just opened his eyes)

I couldn't help but notice his eyes seem to have a bit of red in them, is this normal for a brand new pup that just opened his eyes? or should I be concerned? I can provide more pictures for a better look.

Thanks :)

What a little doll!

If we are talking about the pup in the photo...the eyes don't look abnormally red to me. It doesn't look like there is any drainage or visible infection. Hopefully someone with more multiple puppy experience will be along to give their insight.

Congrats on that adorable little pup!

Hi David. I've often wondered about Wilson, who seems to have much more redness ( like bloodshot, right?) around his eyes than his sister Olivia. He's never had any eye issues (he's had a LOT of other issues!) so I've never pursued why they are like that. I am on my iPad now and doubt I have a good one to post, but I will see if I can find one to share. I don't think I would worry too much at this early stage. Great that the breeder is sending you pics...it's nice to have those early ones to go back to.

Hi Tricks3! Welcome to the board and congratulations on your baby! I love his color! Really lovely.

I wouldn't worry about the redness. The first day I met Bisou her eyes were crazy red. Like, I seriously wondered if she was channeling her inner demon or something. We're talking Omen-type red. Anyway, here we are almost a year later and her eyes are fine. Nice and pink. To this day I wonder if she had some sort of allergy when we brought her home because if the pollen count gets too high, I'll notice her eyes getting a little red. I think you'll be fine.

Thanks for the help & replies everyone! I get new pictures the 30th of this month, I'll update with the new pictures then.

They look fine to me, I would have them send you some pics in a week to see how they are, and they should be fine.

Wilson, much younger. I still notice this, but not as much. Much different from Olivia.

Sarge_11.6.2013_3Wks.jpg My dog, 3 weeks, Their eyes look cloudy and shallow. You really shouldn't see the white of a Frenchie's eyes if that's what you think looks red. These photos to me don't look red except for the camera light shinning on an immature eye. They do have a 3rd eye lid that is very red that you can sometimes see in the inner corner when they look up. My dog had a cherry eye at about 4 or 5 months we needed to have repaired and that looked red when it would "pop" out. He's cute and will be so much fun. Where in Michigan are you from?

Welcome to FBN. He is a little cutie bug!

:welcome3:
