Hey all

I'm a newbie in both senses; new to the boards and new to Frenches! I've just rehomed a 3-year old ex breeding bitch from a very good KC Assured kennel here in the UK and simply looking to learn more about these funny little beasts. I'm an experienced dog owner......of Neapolitan Mastiffs so I've gone from a 180lb mountain of slobber to a 25lb bundle of cuteness. The only similarity is the snoring! I think this little madam could have given my last beloved Neo a run for his money on that front.

Xena (who I've taken to calling 'Zee Zee' for some reason) seems to be a very sweet little girl. She trots around after me and my other half keeping up a constant stream of chit-chat that sounds a bit like an angry bumble bee and if we sit down she's wanting to get straight onto the lap for a cuddle. I've had a vet check and she passed with flying colours - her breeder already had clear screens for hereditary cataracts and a perfect score on her Patella. The only downside with the vet check was that the vet ran over the next person's appointment by 15 minutes as she was too busy cuddling the little pooch and feeding her bits of gravy bones :D

I'm noting the odd little behaviours as I go along and matching them up against what other people say as I feel like a doggie beginner again; I can 'read' Mastiffs but I'm back on a big learning curve with these little fellows.

I'm definitely smitten though :)heartsign:) - considering this little madam has been with us only a few days she's showing real character! I'm looking forward to learning a lot from experienced owners of these tiny terrors :D

Welcome to the forum and welcome to Frenchie's. A warning, they are addictive, lol. I too have owned dogs my entire life, but last June, after years of wanting one, I added my very first frenchie to my home. It has been pure love ever since :) . Two weeks ago we added a second frenchie to our home - twice the love, twice the fun! They are wonderful dogs and I love all of their little quriks, grunts, noises, snorts, compact little bodies, bigger than life personalities and their need for lots of affection from their people. I have learned so much from this forum and have gotten to know some wonderful people and their dogs - it is a great source of information. Post lots of pictures, and keep us in the loop with what's going on. Looking forward to hearing all about your new baby.

Hi and welcome. She is a real cutie, and sounds like a great little companion too. I had a Neo years ago myself, great dogs.

Welcome and congrats on your Frenchie! Wally is my first Frenchie and I have to say he was more work than any other dog I have ever owned, but I would get another one in a second. They are little clowns who are very stubborn, curious, friendly and cuddly.

Welcome to you and Xena! I'm sure you will find a lot of useful information here. Glad you found us!

LUV Mastiffs... Neo's are great but I lean to the Cane Carso, but luv bugs all of them!

:welcome3: to FBN..... Xena is a cutie! You are going to love the clown personality she will eventually show you

Thank you for your welcome all!

HI and welcome from the VA gang... Anne, Gidget, Olivia & Wilson. As you can tell, we started with 1 and rapidly added to the pack! Our neighbor is looking into adopting a retired breeder that we just located for her! There were 2, but my husband has said ABSOLUTELY no more right now. :(

Welcome to the forum, and the wonderful world of Frenchie. They are a great companion and love their humans, and love to be with them. They are addicting though, and it is hard to have just one. :(
