Jax usually poops twice a day, occasionally 3 and it is usually firm and as good looking as stool can be. Sunday morning when he went it was not much and he did not go for the rest of the day but decided he needed to go at 2:30 am and again, it was not much but still firm. Monday morning while I was getting ready (around 5:30 am) he was whining as he clearly needed to go! So I took him out, he ran and a BIG stool literally flew out of him and it wasn't as firm as usual but then he was straining as if there was more to come to no avail. He did not poop the rest of the day. When he pooped this morning, it was just 3 little pieces. We were at my brother's house on Saturday and while I was constantly pulling things out of his mouth, it is possible he could have eaten something he shouldn't have. Is this a sign of potential blockage? Just an upset tummy? Should I try and give him some pumpkin? He has been acting normal with eating/drinking and playing. Thoughts/suggestions?

I wouldn't worry too much as long as he is eating and drinking. He may have eaten something that kind of threw him off.

yes, give a little pumpkin... did you switch foods as someone mentioned adjusting to home cooking?

As others have said, give it a few days and see if it clears up on its own, could have been something he ate. Usually a blockage, they will have diarrhea, will vomit, and after a while won't have much of an appetite.

I think I'm so paranoid because he was at my brother's and could have eaten something. I will wait a couple more days unless he takes a turn for the worst.

2bullymama I did home cook him some food on Sunday night that I have been mixing in with his kibble for dinner.

winginit66 - He pooped last night and this morning and more than little pieces. I gave him some pumpkin last night and will give him more tonight. It wasn't as much as before but better than what it was Sunday/Monday. Maybe with the home cooking he will go less? I guess I am always quick to worry and think the worse whenever something happens that isn't "normal." I'm like a first time mom with a newborn lol.

yes, raw/home-cooking -- the dog will has less 'waste' as the body utilizes all the nutrients and with kibble some of it is just filler (rice, rice and more rice) :D

Hope the poop gets better soon!!!! Can't believe I just typed that.
