Ok so Louie is now a year old and still behaving badly. Honestly he could be so sweet but it's very rare!!!

I have literally tried every training technique I possibly could and even ones people have recommended and absolutely nothing is working!!

I bought him a bigger crate to go in when we are not home so what I have been doing is putting him in his smaller crate with nothing in it as a punishment. He doesn't like it at all but There's nothing else that works. I can't take the biting and stuff anymore. It hurts and he is relentless.

I would love to get a trainer but we can't afford it financially right now. I don't want to get discouraged and have to find him another home because we love him but we are a bit stressed!!! I grew up with dogs my whole life and never had one like him that just won't stop!!

Will time outs in the crate eventually help? We take him on many long walks and I sometimes
Think it makes him more riled up.

What should we do??

Does he get to play with other dogs? I find that Hudson is so much more well behaved when he is tired. Additionally, he has learned a ton from other dogs putting him in his place, including that biting HURTS and is not okay. Finding a regular play group for him would be my first move.

No he has only played with another dog once and he did love it. I was going to check into a dog park maybe.

Sounds like he needs a lot more exercise and playmates.

Would it be possible for him to attend a doggy daycare while you're at work? Where I live, some places will even drive to your home for Pick-Up and Drop-Off.

The one that Bear will be attending is a 4-hour session where they socialize with other young puppies, learn basic commands and etiquette and play. Then they will drop him off at home, crate him with a nice big KONG and he can sleep till I'm home.

Something like that might be a thing to consider.

It sounds like he is full of energy and needs more play. A tired pup is a happy pup! If you have a dog daycare around, I suggest trying that out. I try to take Jax once a week because he LOVES it and some days there are other Frenchies there that he plays with. Unfortunately, Jax has a wart which is contagious so it has been over a month since he has gone and he can't go back until it is gone. I can tell he is starting to get restless and really wants to play with other dogs.

I agree with everyone else, maybe drop him off at a doggie day care center a couple times a week? Petsmart's training classes are very reasonable much much less then a trainer and they work...

He is a pup and needs to play. This is sometimes a problem when you only have one pup, they get bored easily and want to play, and will act out when they are bored or just need to play. It will get better one day, and in the mean time keep training and play with him with some chew toys or a tug toy. Henri will try to bite my hands, and I just put my palm to him and he can't bite, and I tell him no bite and will play with him, and usually get a chew toy also. Frenchies are sometimes high strung, and need plenty of attention. They want to be with their humans and hate being crated, but when we are gone they go to their crates. It's the safest place for them to be. he will get better, just have to play and show him attention and when he gets too crazy, it's time for a time out.

what is this service called? i would love this for chowder when he's old enough

I would go on meetup.com and see if you can find a meetup group for dogs. I have one here about 30 mins from me specifically for Frenchies and we meet up once a month. But I bet you can find just a dog meet up group to join in your area and then make some friends in the area to make play dates with at a local park. He needs more exercise and no the time outs in the crate probably won't work. That's probably making the problem worse actually because he can't get the energy out. Find some playmates quickly. A tired dog is a good dog! Good luck!

I had never heard of meetup.com before so I just checked it out and there is a FB meet up group that meets once a month in my area...yay!! Unfortunately, Jax won't be able to go to any until he gets rid of his warts [sigh].

It is just the puppy version of the doggy-daycare I selected - a special 'puppy version' where the pups play and socialize in their own playground, and then are allowed socialization with the adult dogs for an hour.
The couple who runs it also works with behavioral training while they are there (potty training, bite inhibition, etc.)

They are located in Encinitas, California and are a family business - not a chain establishment.

But on the upside - there is a meetup close to you and you can go when he's all better! Cool! Be sure to pot pics!!! I love pics!
