My little guy has chronic stomach issues , mostly soft stools and several episodes of vomiting.
We have had him on nu vet supplements for 2 months now , tried so many different foods I don't even remember them all. And yes we start him out slow and work our way up with any new food , I know how it works , I'm just so frustrated!
We have him on Fromm beef frittata and pork and pees now, still the same thing , extremely soft stools and his hair has started to fall out really bad. I'm thinking I should go back to the blue buffalo as with that I couldn't pull hair off him , now at this rate he will be bald soon!
I have read the top 5 foods and started with Fromm, does anybody have any suggestions , please please help!:(

Have you tried Orijen?

What does your vet say? His allergies may be so severe you may consider a RAW diet. I personally do not have experience with it but there are several on here that do.

No I have not tried Orijen. All my vet suggested was the gastro intestinal Iams food which we I did for at least a month , he hated it , it helped with his gas and stomach but unless I put pumpkin, yogurt or cottage cheese in it he wouldn't touch it. He did start shedding on that food and still shedding really bad on the fromm , stool is really soft pretty much all the time
I have never had him tested for allergies , actually don't know how to do that, he has been checked for worms parasites , his bacteria count was high was on antibiotic and got rid of that , then needed probiotic for his tummy , did that , and now on Fromm food and nu vet supplements . Still soft stools and horrible shedding .
I guess I need to read up on raw food diet as I don't know much about it, I was hoping to avoid that as I don't cook for us let alone my dog, not good in the kitchen, also I need quick and easy. We have had dogs our entire lives, never ,never had this much trouble or spent this much money on a pet before . Wow!
I will call and see about allergy testing I guess don't know what else to do , man is he a picky eater😬

How old is your pup and how much do you feed each meal?

Has he had these issues from the beginning? Or did they start after you vaccinated him or used flea/tick products? Or was there anything that 'triggered' it?

I would look into a fresh (raw) diet. There are plenty commercially made brands, that come in pattie shape, so all you have to do is thaw and feed it. Its pretty simple. No cooking involved.

He is 15 months old. We feed him 4 small meals a day, about a fourth cup or a little more each time.

Cut back the food a little and see if it makes a difference.... Do a little less than the quarter cup

Seemed to start after he was neutered. Vet said could be stress induced. He has been better, but still not normal. We will look into the raw diet! Thanks

If you decide to do the raw there are lots of commercial brands that come in nuggets and you can just thaw them in the fridge the night before for the following day (Primal, Nature's Instinct, etc.) It's really easy. You can also look into Nutriscan for food allergies. Good luck.

Thanks for all the input! We are looking at some of the different brands of raw food. We will definitely give it a try!!

Cutting back the portions seem to help. We still have to mix a little cottage cheese with the Fromm to get him to eat it
We are going to try this for awhile. If it changes again, we will look into the Raw diet!!

Here's a great blog post about raising a dog with digestive issues. It resonated with me, as did your post, because we've had issues with Beezy since we brought her home. Switching her to a raw diet helped a lot but has not ever cured the problem. I suspect that her gut just isn't completely healthy and that's why I can't get weight on her, even though she's eating nearly twice as much food as is required for her weight. I ordered a prebiotic powder (OptaGest) for her based on the recommendation of this blogger and it should arrive tomorrow. Fingers crossed that it helps. From what I understand, giving your dog a probiotic without a prebiotic is like sending an army into battle without any ammunition for their guns. You have to feed the good bacteria in order for them to be able to function.

Good luck!
