Hello! This is an all stages food but I want to feed it to my puppy! He is 8 weeks old. I wrote into Orijen and they say that it is fine for all stages including puppy. I have compared the ingredients and percentages of fat, protein, dha, and other important ingredients to other puppy blends and it has higher percentages! Just wondering if you guys have any opinions on this, feeding your puppy all stages instead of puppy food?

Thanks =)

Orijen is a high rated food if you look at dogfoodadvisor.com --- you should be fine

Yess I have seen that. Thanks
My sister is a vet and trying to tell me I need the vet diet Royal canin and that it had to be puppy blend. I was concerned for a while but after much research am feeling confident about my choice.

Most vets will usually recommend the stuff they sell. I'm glad you did your own research. Orijen is a great food.

My vet sells science diet, after hearing I feed Fromm she hasn't even considered telling me differently. She's a French bulldog breeder as well, so it was nice to have the vet and someone who owns 12 frenchies accept your choice of food so easily :)

We have a 6 month old pup and he's on the all stage fromm... We switched our little girl to the all stage at about 6-7 months as well.

Glad you did research & can feel good with the choice regardless! :)

Agree with the above, stay away from that prescription food!

Personally I would feed a high quality puppy blend first like fromm puppy with nuvet plus then switch to Orijen at 6 months. As young pups it's important they are getting an access amount of vitamins and minerals but there is a lot of data out there about too much protein in young growing puppies. Not sure how much is true but I like to side with an err of caution. I've raised many pups with the Fromm puppy and nuvet combination and they all grow up good and healthy. :2thumbs:

I would definitely go with the Orijen kibble over Royal Canin. Royal Canin is not a good quality dog food. My vet sells it as well and we did a food trial with the duck and potato formula. It made Stella sick after being on it for 3 weeks.

I am just looking into Fromm now to see if they have a puppy food without chicken in it, that has been our struggle

Ohhh they do have one, but it looks like they don't sell it where I am from? :(

Yes I am currently feeding him Orijen all stages

Agreed. Orijen is a great kibble.
Definitely stay away from precription diet. Its sad really,because one would think vets would only sell the best,however its the worst. Up to 70% of a bag are carbs/sugar & most ingredients are very shady.

I know... the vets say they tour the places the food is made and all this other stuff but I think those places spend most of their money on pushing the product rather than the food itself:whew:
