We have a beautiful 22 week old female Frenchie. Playful, happy and very mischievous.
At 20 weeks she had a slight prolapse which was put back in by an emergency vet. The following morning she prolapsed again showing approx. 10 cm. This was put back in and stitched. A week later the stitches were removed and she passed a stool that night, again 4 more in the morning and parsually prolapsed again. Another trip to the vets and again she had surgery and stitches.
Our 1st vet was useless and said if this fails the best bet was to put her to sleep and threw away the stool samples.
We are currently waiting on the stool samples from the 2nd vet to try and clear up the cause or give an indication to any underlying cause.
She seems to strain when trying to pass a stool with the stitches in or out.
She is currently on medication to help with worms, infection to the anal passage and a lactose based liquid to soften the stool to help her pass her stools easier.
If this reoccurs what routes are open to us ?
Anybody have experience with this scenario ?
We are currently feeding her a wet pedigree chum puppy tinned food which we water down slightly and mix to a rough paste and having one tin per day. Her body weight is currently 5.3kgs at 22 weeks.

Many thanks in advance

My guy had this at 4 months too... a couple of surgeries, no stress and the right food got him to a super healthy little guy. if you can and are willing look into a RAW diet it is much better nad my guy thrives on it (he will be 9 yrs old in April). if raw is not for you... get a high quality kibble... James Wellbeloved is a good one … or Acana/Orijen.

Sounds like 2bullymama has you covered, I do not have nay experience with this, so I am of not help. Good luck with your pup and hopefully this last surgery does the trick with the right diet.

Sounds like a good idea, if you mix in canned plain pumpkin or some vegetables like steamed green beans to help keep the stools soft. My dog has loose stools sometimes after a marrow bone because it's so rich, but wouldn't recommend that more than once or twice a week because too much can cause pancreatitis.
