Hi,

I am new to this but we have a 11 week old Frenchie Male who has had Diarrhea since we got him.
He has had Antibiotics and worming stuff from the vets, and also a binder called Pro Kolin, still nothing is working.
We have changed his food to a Hypo Allergenic Grain Free food and will give that a few days to see if it works, but nothing so far.
He is fine in himself, happy, playing, eating and drinking just cant toilet train and he is having accidents constantly.
Anyone had anything similar? The next steps is to run tests at vets but hadn't got round to getting him insured so worried about that.
Also might try the raw diet as its always highly recommended but wasn't sure for a pup?
Thanks in advance x

Welcome!

Why is your baby on antibiotics? Did they test his poo for parasites?

Diarrhea in a puppy can be common. Could be from stress and adjusting to new home. How long have you had him? Could also be caused by the food if it does not agree with him, if you recently changed foods without a slow transition or if you are feeding too much. How much do you feed and what are you feeding?

What are the antibiotics for? If he does not have a parasite or something specific, they may be unnecessary. Plus antibiotics are really hard on their systems as it kills all of the good gut bacteria.

You can try adding in some pure pumpkin (not the pie filling) to his food and give a good probiotic.

Did he have giardia? Commonly that is treated with both an antibiotic (metronidazole) and a wormer (fenbendazole). It's important to wash puppy at end of treatment and clean the environment well. It's also a good idea to retreat at 2 weeks. Wouldn't hurt for you to put puppy on boiled chicken and rice for a few days while you gradually transition to a dehydrated raw food rated for all life stages like Honest Kitchen Embark. https://www.thehonestkitchen.com/embark

Some good doggie probiotics include Herbsmith Microflora Plus or Proviable DC or green tripe. The best human ones would be kefir, or live sauerkraut from health food store. Probiotic unflavoured greek yoghurt ( eg. Kirkland brand from Costco) is good, but has less bacteria than kefir or sauerkraut.
