We got safari when he was two months old. Since then he has slowly been making progress on becoming the dog we hope he will become. It seems though that every since he turned 4 months old he has had a major set back. It's like he forgot every thing we've been working on. He won't listen, won't do any commands, won't calm down like he used to, every time outside is like his first time. Every little
Thing distracts him. It sometime takes him 20-30 min of walking around and around to poop because he gets so distracted. He didn't act this bad the first week we had him. I'm hoping this is just a stage? Has anyone else dealt with this?

It's just a phase. You will have some set backs along the way. Just stay consistent and everything will be fine. :)

Jax is a little over a year and he still will sometimes get distracted and take forever to do his business.

Totally normal, getting into the terrible twos LOL Henri is in them now too. It will pass.

We had the Terrible Two's and Trying Three's. Pierce is now almost five months old. He is getting better. The thing he is the worst about is bolting out the back gate when we open it to go out. We are working hard on the Come command. He loves our neighbor's front yard for some reason.

Im right there with you. Chowder is 4 months of, and instead of walking hes fav thing to do outside is sitting down and looking at me. haha He took us 30 mins to walk 2 blocks today, then i finally had to go to work so i carried him home. I guess this is just a bump on the road :)

I am experiencing the exact same thing with my 4 month old male. He still responds well (most of the time) to "come" but I always make sure I have treats in my pocket. Tried to do the potty training thing too with just praise but I didn't get anywhere until I added treats to the mix. A well known dog trainer, Patricia McConnell says that is her absolute favorite way to potty train -- BUT the timing must be perfect. In other words, you must be standing right there with him and right after he goes you praise and give a treat. My little guy absolutely gets this but unfortunately we have other health issues that prevent him from always getting outside first. I was very glad to see the responses where others said this terrible 2's stage is normal and will go away -- yes, there IS a light at the end of the tunnel! My sun/dog room has more barricades than Fort Knox and he STILL finds a way into any corner he sets his mind on.

I was wondering this too, Dave was doing so well with his house training and we thought we'd cracked it, but sometimes even when the doors are all open he will wee/poo indoors!! He is almost 5 months old now.
