Hello all,
So I'm doing research about raw feeding and trying to decide if it's for me. I really like the idea and the health benefits of it (mostly because I'm a freak about wanting to know EXACTLY what I'm feeding my animals) but I'm wondering what people do when they travel. Like if I'm camping I'm terrified that raw foods are going to spoil even if kept in a cooler, I'm not even fond of bringing cooked meats traveling.
Do you think it would be alright maybe if I kept a good kibble in the diet purely for these trips or something?
What do other people do in these situations?

You could freeze it and it will keep longer.

You could use a brand that is freeze dried and just add water.

Yup, freeze dried would be a great option (its still 'raw' only the moisture has been removed).
There is a ton of different companies, examples would be Primal,Natures Variety, Stella & Chewys etc.

Also,if you are going to be buying commercial raw meats(again for example from companies listed above), they are pasteurized, which means they could even stay in the fridge for a week.(if you have acess to a mini cooler).

Using a good quality kibble for the vacation time would be possible as well, however keep in mind, that some dogs dont transition well back on to kibble, once they have been on raw.

haha you know, in all my research and thinking I completely forgot about freeze dried. I mean I initially thought about it but decided it would be too expensive in the long run, but short term it should be perfect. Thanks for reminding me :) Now here's hoping I don't get a picky eater to ruin all my planning (HA)
