We have Winston, a 5 month old cream male. His breeder has us feeding him Taste of the Wild, Pacific stream puppy and she says to feed it until he is a year old. We have been researching raw diet and our vet was not a fan (not that it matters as she wanted to give him Lepto vaccine and which we refused, prob going to fire her). Has anyone used Stella and Chewy's and would you add anything to their freeze dried or frozen patties other than water to supplement his food or just the patties are enough. He has no issues except occasional belly rash from grass. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome! Vets will be against raw due to liability should someone get sick from not being safe with the clean up. I feed S&C for a few weeks and did not add anything... but wasn’t on it long enough to determine any need of supplementing.

I know feed a local made raw

Welcome!! We'd love to see some pics of Winston, if you want to introduce him formally in an introduction thread!!

Gracie's breeder also fed TotW PS. I already had Gus on raw, so I switched Gracie, cold turkey, on the third day after I got her.

I fed Stella & Chewy's for a bit and fed as a complete meal. Any supplementation is up to you. My only advice, if you are switching proteins, is not to start with chicken, as it seems like many bullies have chicken sensitivities. I can't recall if they have a fish recipe - I believe I've only tried the beef.

Stella and Chewy’s is a good brand.

Thanks everyone! Appreciate the feedback. I picked up the rabbit and venison as I had read that those are very low in allergy risk and that they go nuts for them. I think I will crumble 1 freeze dried patty per meal and mix with his current food for a couple weeks. If he does well I will build from there. I'd love to post Winston's pic but I don't know where or how- a little confused by the complexity of this amazing forum.IMG_8876.jpg

Hope it goes well. Keep us updated.

Winston is just a doll. :ashamed:

When is his bday? Sounds like he's right around my Gracie's age.

Thanks so much! He was born April 24. His mom is a cream and his dad is a blue pied. He has these gorgeous blue eyes and gray nose! Can't handle his cuteness:)

I think it gets expensive if you stick with a national brand for a long time, you can probably get from a local company for less money. I would say the Stella and Chewys is complete except for not having any fish in it, so I'd either rotate him on the Surf n Turf a day a week or add some fish oil to his Stella and Chewys.
