My perfectly healthy 2 year old frenchie has not been the same since receiving the leptospirosis vaccine. Even having been pre treated with Benadryl and steroid. Now a month later still having problems. Twitching. Lethargic and just not his happy health. Anybody have similar situation. I'm desperate to help my baby

I haven't had that happen but I would recommend building up your dog's immune system. Try giving him probiotics such as raw goats milk, live sauerkraut from refrigerator section of health food store, or milk kefir, or a doggie probiotic such as Proviable DC. Also avoid any future vaccinations- you probably can get rabies titres done in lieu of rabies vaccination, and you can also get titres done of the core vaccine components if you are worried your pet isn't protected. Try to avoid giving flea and tick protection- you can spray pet before you go out. Also don't give heartworm medication - you can test pet for heartworm microfilariae every 4 months and treat if necessary. Also switch to frozen raw dog food since it helps build immune system. I'm so sorry this happened to your baby. I know lepto is one of the more dangerous of the vaccines. If you are open to it, along with all the great advice above, I would consider making an appointment with a homeopathic vet. Many do phone consults, so even if there isn't one in your area, that's ok.

Keep us updated.

We see more reactions to Lepto than any other vaccine at the Veterinary Hopital where I work. I wouldn't think most Frenchies live a lifestyle that warrants the need for the Lepto. I'm sorry to hear about your baby. Have you taken him back to the Vet for these symptoms?

Sorry this happened to your baby. We do not get the Lipto vac. Too much trouble with it and from what I have heard it is a bad vac. that came from our vet. I hope your baby gets better soon

I have been back to vet three times. Thankfully we are on a medicine protocol that seems to work for now. I might try some laser therapy as well. Thank you for the advice. Just didn't know if anyone else experienced this.
