I have been noticing recently how EXTREMELY red Sharp's ears are when he comes in from the outside... It has been getting colder lately, so I'm not sure it's kind of like wind burn going on in there or maybe an ear infection...? Not sure if I need to get him a hat when he goes out haha :D It's been a few hours since he's been out and the red hasn't gone away yet.

Anyone have something similar like this happen to their frenchie?

Jax's ears get red due to allergies.

Could be allergies, yeast or just the cold air.Maples ears get a little red when its cold outside as well.
Does he scratch/lick a lot?

could just be the cold, but as others noted there can be allergy or yeast related... how do the inner ears look, clean?

Also, is there an odor in the ear? If there is an infection you can sometimes smell it.

If there is an odor in the ear, that is a good sign of an ear infection or yeast problem.

You need to talk to your vet and buy the liquid for dogs for swimmers. This will help loosen gunk in the ear and dry it out. Please don't wait take it from experience, I ignored this for too long with my lab (rip) and it ended in chronic ear infections that we fought for years... So we purchased this stuff for dog ears and anytime zeta is out in tall grass, water or after bath and once a week we use this to keep her ears healthy.

If the redness continues and looks inflamed, and if there is some gunk in the ear, its most likely a yeast infection. I just took mine to the vet for same thing and he is now on an ointment for 10 days. Hope all goes well. :)
