Pierce had his nares widened, soft palate resection and a couple of laryngeal saccule a removed last year in April. He had just turned a year old, but his breathing was so bad, it had to be done at that age. I have noticed in the last few months, that even though his snoring is not as bad, he always sounds as if he is "grumbling" again. He is also gagging a lot and spitting up foam, especially if he eats anything that is too big or dry, or eats too fast. His energy level is much lower. The scariest thing I noticed is if he barks at me several times in a row (seven or eight), his tongue turns a bluish color. Randy is going to get him into our vet next week and get him back to the surgeon who did his surgery last year. This is guy is great with Frenchies and knows the breed well. I am pretty sure he said the surgery may need to be repeated when Pierce was older. Has anyone else experienced this?

From what I heard when you do the surgery so young, a repeat is more than likely going to be necessary.

Poor Pierce!

Yes, Cheli had to have his done twice... Scare tissue grew and he was having very bad issues with apnea. His first was just before a two years and the second was about 6 mths later

Randy took him to our regular vet yesterday. She listened to his breathing. His air exchange is excellent. Much, much better than before surgery. She feels he is fine right now. A lot of what we are seeing could be the sudden increase in the heat and humidity. We decided to keep an eye on things over the next couple of months. Unless he gets worse, she will see him in the fall and re-evaluate him then. His sleeping is much better now, with much less snoring and apnea. I am hoping to avoid another surgery, but will definitely do it if necessary.
