Louie received his final set of vaccines yesterday morning and since then, he just wants to sleep in my lap. If I put him down, he will follow me looking sad with an occasional whimper, so of course, I'm just sitting and holding him. Is this a normal reaction? He never sleeps this much, but I am not sad about all the cuddles. :)

Every vaccination stresses the immune system and the whole body. So being sleepy would make sense since his body is working hard at the moment.
If you however see any other changes such as appetite loss, shaking, vomiting etc bring him to the vet asap. And keep an eye on him for the next few weeks, not just the next 24 hours like a vet would recommend.

Ps what a cutie pie!

All dogs react differently after vaccines but I was told by our vet that Wally would be sleepy after the shots. He did sleep for a while but not as long as I was hoping. lol!

Thanks everyone! He ate this morning, but skipped his lunch. He did play for a little while this morning. I'll be keeping a close eye on him.

Dante slept the entire day/night after his vaccinations. The next day he was back to his normal self! Did you give him any benadryl?

Some of them are sleepy and lethargic after being vaccinated. It's a normal reaction. He sure is cute!

I remember Jake being sleepy after his vaccines too. Not so much Stella.

Thanks everyone, he finally woke up about an hour ago and is making up for lost time! It's gonna be a long night!

As others stated... It is typical.... Glad he is back to his wild self
