Socialization

Just out of curiosity, do you think socializing a puppy with the dogs you owned before adopting the puppy counts as socialization? My pup is only 8 weeks old so not ready to go out for socializing, but she's having fun with our other 4. Here she is tasting her hind foot lol

I think it’s definitely socializing if she’s around the other dogs.

I believe it would be considered socializing. She'll learn the pecking order in your own house which should help when she is able to socialize around other dogs.

In home socializing for sure, but you still need to socialize out side of home too... training classes are a good one once he is fully vaccinated and taking to stores to experience different sounds and people

I agree with the others, it's home socializing and it is good for them. Once older outside socializing is good too. As [MENTION=2]2bullymama[/MENTION] said once he is older a training class is a good way to start that.

Newbie here. If the dog has been socializing since a puppy with other animals (not a dog, maybe cat), then when they become adult, they can just blend well with them (other animals)? All in all, if you already got some pet at home, so better to adopt a puppy then adopt a fully adult dog?

Yes it's important to socialize with different animals, people and environments to have a calm, tolerant dog. Our pup goes in for her next shots in a week and a half, but it's also winter here so too cold for walks for a little six pound pup. So we take her places zipped up in our coat to meet people lol. More socializing after she gets her final shots.
