Our vet recommends waiting to spay our female until she is 7 months. I would love to wait as much as I can but we have a 2 year old Presa Canario male who is in tact and I would love to avoid any possible issues. I would love to do it right before her first heat but no one can really tell when that is. Would it be safe to spay her at 6 months, just in case?

6 months is fine unless she has a specific issue that your vet mentioned. Although if you spay her at 7 she probably won't have went into heat yet. No way to know though.

I think 6 mos. is safe. We spayed Stella right when she turned 7 mos. without her going into heat, but like Tgirl said it's so hard to predict.

6 months is usually safe to spay, 7 months is better, but you are taking a chance.
