I'm getting my girl spayed on the 26th (she'll be 7 months). Just looking for some tips for when I bring her home i.e, is it okay to take her outside still for potty? If not, she can go in my basement, but then I would have to carry her down because I don't know if she will be able to do the steps on her own at that point.

How long does recovery usually take?

I think I will be getting a recovery suit, instead of the cone, so she can still function properly.

She can go outside... should not be an issue. all you need to do is keep he calm (no jumping or running)... limited play and keep the incision clean.

I agree with Christine 2bullymama good advice.

You shouldn't feed her any solid food past suppertime night before surgery, and I would only give her a limited amount of water and no food for the rest of the day after surgery since she will be throwing up. Next day you can start her gradually back on her solid food. My dog didn't need a recovery suit or collar but yours might. Ask the surgeon if the stitches need to be removed 10-14 days past surgery or if they are dissolving. Good luck !!
