Strange bump

I wonder what this bump is on Benjamin's right rear leg is? Extremely hard, almost like bone. Just noticed it a week or so ago. Could this be from an injury or vigorous play?
As a followup, he feels no pain, and it doesn't bother him at all.

Hard to tell, but it looks like a cyst. I would have the vet take a look at it sooner than later in case it needs to be removed.

Just got back from the vet, she didn't seem to think it was anything serious at all. Spoke of several possibilities. Could be a benign something cytoma, could be a result of aggressive playtime injury, also said some younger and older dogs just have some growths like that.
She gave us some anti inflammatories (Rimadyl) and asked us to watch it for any further growth, either larger or smaller, etc.
If still there in a couple more weeks they might want to do and xray.

that is good news then... let's hope it is just from too much play and he is fine in no time
