In speaking with a holistic pet nutritionist via email briefly, this is what they said: "Don’t rush him or her on dry too soon. Do a mixture of canned and dry for at least a couple of months bc it will help digestion and prevent some possible allergies later."

Thoughts?

never heard of that before.... how old is your pup?

A holistic nutritionist that suggests kibble ?:ponder: Odd...
Anyhow, back to the question : How old is the dog and what is he currently eating?

I've never heard of that either, is this for a young pup?

I've never heard of that either. What is the age of your baby? We switched Hazel from a mixture of wet and kibble to just straight kibble with no transition and no problems with her.

She's 2 weeks old, not even here yet.. but I just wanted to see if anyone else has heard of this and what you guys started your puppies on?

I've done dry with a tablespoon or two of canned since my dog came to us at 9 1/2 weeks. He eats a limited ingredient, grain free food on both and he has horrible allergies, but not food related. I also take a small glob of the canned and roll his Benedryl and Apoquel in it at his night meal. He loves his canned food and I have never heard about it aiding in digestion for pups but I think it tastes better to them and I'm all about making The Sergeant smile :D Good luck with your new pup!

I have always always fed every dog I have ever owned these last 40 years with kibble and 1/4 can wet food with hot water mixed up and poured over the kibble. It also helps to float the kibble for larger breeds or dogs that "gulp" their food....then they gulp water/mix not air....the hot water makes it smell and taste so good and it is already digesting when it hits their stomach vs just dry kibble and dry treats/biscuits. No do has ever had eating problems, no digestive or bloat issues, no anal gland issue s(because their stool is not too hard or too soft) and the oils from the wet food keeps their coats nice and shiny and their digestive tracts in good working order!!
