I was just wondering what are your thoughts on tether training and how should we go about doing it? I feel as if our pup (5 months) can be a little stubborn about coming on command and etc. (as expected). We are trying to house break him but he still pees in areas of the house. Someone recommended tethering training to better monitor the behavior. I was wondering if anyone had any experience or advice on this matter. Thanks in advance!

P.S will this cause any resentment?

My puppy is also very stubborn, same age as your pup.
Please be patient and only using positive reinforcement. =)
My puppy is 99% house training now =) she used to pee everywhere in my condo

You can try it... It is successful with some cause as with all training techniques you have to find the one that works for both of you. Is he dominate at all or is it the type bully decision making taking place?

Have you tried nothing in life is free?

I would first work on the nothing in life is free and more or less an xpen or crate training Til you know that he's potty trained... That's what I did with both of my dogs, 1 girl, 1 deaf boy. Girl is spayed, boy isn't neutered yet.

I'd definitely keep at the positive reinforcement with potty training as well.

I know it can be hard, so many people tell me it's the worst thing they ever did, but I managed with two frenchies to potty train even a very very sick and deaf puppy.

You can do this!

Side note: do you have another dog or did another dog live there before you? Did they happen to mark anywhere? Or did someone have a cat? Dogs tend to mark over where cats have been from my own experience if they were not raised around cats, not all but some will...

I'd get some enzyme cleaner and spot clean as well, and wash bedding and dog toys/bedding with it as well. It MAY help, and if not everything is clean anyway ;) (I can't stand stinky dog breath toys so I wash mine...)
