Hi everyone,
Well Wilson and I were BACK at the vet 2 weeks ago (I swear this dog is going to have an exam room named after him!) because he just never seemed to bounce back after his neuter surgery. First, he had the whole issue of hurting one of his front legs the night before, then the surgery. Then at the end of that week he was limping behind. He was just lethargic and just didn't look right. She flexed him all the way around and he never cried out that anything hurt or gave any other indication. She had tested him the week before when my husband took him in for Lymes (and that test does 2 others) which came back negative. Well anyway, we discussed that as he also had a low grade fever. In hindsight, I should have gotten the Rx that day for the antibiotic. But Mike was not able to go away with us last week on vacation and went ahead and had it filled. Within 2 days he was much better, back to his old self, barking (yes, he barks - I think mainly b/c he doesn't hear well) and playing.
Apparently, one of the signs of tick-borne disease is leg pain that moves around. I'm not exactly sure if it is joint (but would think so) but it will move around to different legs. Just wanted to throw this out there for everyone. She also indicated that even though the test had come back negative there were dozens of other tick-borne diseases and she totally believes some that haven't even been identified yet. I agree! And we had not seen any ticks and they have all had flea/tick treatment...
