Hello all!
Chowder and our family will be moving in a couple weeks!
We're going from hardwood floors to carpet. I'm a little anxious about chowder adjusting to his new setting. Has anyone moved with their Frenchie before? And what helped them adjust? Also chowder goes on the pee pad inside the house now so hopefully when we move he'll continue to do the same. Of course we are expecting accidents and just want to make it least stressful for our boy :)

We moved twice in 4 months with Cheli.... did not even blink - he is so into everything and being curious nothing phased him. Now, our Bulldog, Banks... total opposite. We had to do introduction sessions at each place and give her time to just run and explore before we moved in. She is now 9 yrs old, at the time of the moves she was 7 and did have accidents the first few days

We moved at the end of May so after we had Maple for 6 months. We left her at our old home until everything was moved and all helpers etc had left. Then we brought her home. Everything was back to normal within a couple days.
Don't make a big deal out of it(I know its hard cause it so exciting) and keep him out of the major moving stress and he should be fine :)

Of course, there are potentials for accidents with the new flooring. I suggest going to Big Lots or some discount company and buying a $15 rug or even 2. That way after a few weeks if he proves he KNOWS to go potty on the potty pad, you can take away the rugs and have the carpet still as clean as you moved in. If he starts having accidents, I'd put the carpet down again until he learns where he should and shouldn't go. You can then use the rugs during the winter or summer on the back patio as a place for Chowder to lay in comfort or put away in storage to use for future camping trips.

I've used the same technique with Quella, but I have a piece of vinyl that I bought from an industrial carpet/upholstery outlet.

I like 2bullymama's method that was used for the Bulldog by introducing the dog in sessions. If Chowder has the whole house to run and play in, he may be so excited, he'll just go potty right in the spot he's venturing in, as opposed to going back to the potty pad. This might be a good time to reintroduce baby gates.

XoXo from Quella La Roux and her mommy too!

We have moved with ours and it was a breeze.
