Hey guys, we took our puppy to the vets today and he received his final vaccinations and was wormed with some sort of gel on his back. The vet never really told us to expect anything out of the ordinary.
When we brought him home he threw up (which I checked online and found out was a normal side effect, though he threw up really, really badly) and we thought we'd just leave him to settle down but he's been extremely lethargic and he will not stop shaking. Is this normal or should we check with the vet?

If he is lethargic and shaking I would call the vet ASAP.

Thanks for replying :) We took him to the vet not that long ago, she said he seems okay for now but to keep an eye on him and call the out of hours vet if anything changes.

Since it was a topical wormer, it was probably a monthly application of Revolution or Advantage Multi which prevent heartworm and other worms . Even though your pet threw up, you don't have to worry about re-dosing since it wasn't given orally. One time I gave my dog Sentinel Spectrum oral wormer and she threw up a tiny bit about an hour after, so I wasn't sure whether to redose her or not. You might want find out which one they used so you can switch to the other one next time. I'm not sure which months you give heartworm prevention in Scotland but in Canada you don't need to give from December-March, so there might only be one dose left for you this season.
