When you take your frenchies out, how long do you walk them for ?

Quella is 5.5 months and has been going on walks for 2 months. We go on 2-3 day and I'd guess it would be 1/2-3/4 mile long. The 2nd half of the walk, her breathing is labored and very noisy in her throat. When she gets home, she collapses on the tile for 20 or so minutes then gets up for some water and seems back to her 'ol unexhausted self. We're in AZ, so it's been 90-110 the past few months and we're only half way through. Ugh. I'll use these mini power walks as a way to build her stamina for cafe, coffee shops and festivals this fall. :dance6:

XoXo from Quella La Roux and her mommy too!

We usually don't walk for more than 30 minutes, less if it is hot out. When Jax was younger he would only be able to go a couple blocks before starting to pant. As he got older he was able to walk for a longer period of time. Now it just depends on if the sun is out or not. I also bring water for him on our walks so he can stop and get a drink.

See that's why I have 2...I don't have to walk them. They run and chase each other for exercise not to mention they rough house and play constantly. :) But, we do hit the beach and dog parks on the weekends for some real leg stretching running!

I usually call it getting their ya ya's out. They do it all the time especially right before bed I make sure they are awake about 8:30 and ready to play for at least 30 mins to tire them both out. They sleep all night that way.

We walk twice per day for 20 - 30 mins. Sometimes the late afternoon walk is on the beach. We also try to go on different routes in our neighborhood to mix it up and stimulate them with new smells. They enjoy saying hi to other dogs we pass by and Jake loves paying a visit to his favorite fire hydrants too! :walk: Stella loves to chase the birds and butterflies.:butterfly: But funny thing is there are many times when we grab the leash and approach Jake to put his harness on and he bolts!

We mix it up. Probably three long walks and five short walks a day. The long ones are probably around 30 minutes with the short ones around 5-10 minutes. As Hudson gets older they seem to tire him out more and more. It also depends on the weather, it's been super hot here so we don't do long walks outside of early mornings and late nights.

We don't really 'walk'. We have a large yard and the dogs go out and play in the evening in addition to their bedtime bulldog romps they have in our bedroom. We have to be careful not to keep them out too long in the evenings when it is really warm...

Ok - I have to wait till I get home with wifi signal so I can upload the video's to youtube and then will submit a link on here so you all can see my boys. I have one that's sooooooooo funny.....Ollie flattened out his ears and looked like he was in trouble....it was too cute!

Will post tonight assuming I can figure out how to grab a link for the videos. Yes I know I'm a you tube newbie. I watch them all the time but I have ever uploaded or shared videos this way.....Welcome to the internet world Julie.

Bear does puppy daycare from 8am-1pm. Then I walk him for 30 minutes when I get home from work. He's pooped every night.

We don't go for walks very often, too hot here.

He will be 15 wks old tomorrow and i have just been walking him for about 15 mins early evening when its cool, with having the Border terrier who is 3wks younger they have lots of looning around the garden, so im guessing buy what you have all said that he is getting enough exercise but not too much.

Thanks all
Mandy x

7PM??!?!?! OK - What are you doing to get him to crash by 7PM? Mine take naps on me in the evening while I'm watching TV but as soon as it's bedtime about 8:30 - 9:30 it's go potty time and then they are awake and want to play for 30 mins.....ARG!

I have no idea but it works for me (both me and the BF are early birds because we wake up pretty early in the am for work) and he sleeps through the night. Sometimes if he knows (or thinks) the kids are in the living room he goes crazy in our bedroom and wants off the bed so he can go out there (and when he does go out there, he goes right to sleep). Last night I made the kids leave the living room, took Jax out there so he could see no one was out there and he wasn't missing out on anything, took him back to the bedroom and he went right to sleep.

We are early birds too. Usually up by 430am!!!
