Hi all, newbie here! I have a Frenchie called Buddy - he is 5 years old this year. He's got this weird spot on his back, I don't even know if spot is the right word. Crustation maybe? It's crustly, flaky, looks quite sore but he isn't in any pain with it. Bits fall off it when it's touched by myself and some bits you can pick off easily. When I asked the vets about this a few months ago she said it was a "hot spot" but it's got bigger and doesn't healthy at all.

Does anyone have any idea on what this could be, have any experience of this before and or any tips on how to resolve this and get his skin back to normal? b366f45c-8956-4379-a4d7-cbe3f4f7c1b7.webpccc6d1a1-5125-4ab5-85a5-02ceed684ee2.webp

Had our dog to vet today with exact same issue/look, on his back outer leg. On initial exam vet thought to be a 'histiocytoma'. If u google it, ul get more info. 'Usually' a benign tumour/small growth, than CAN (but not always), go away itself in 3 mths. It grew on our frenchie quickly over 2wk period, and doesn't bother him at all, but looks very similar to ur pic. We've been cleaning each day with antiseptic, but, made no difference really, nor got worse. Advised can leave for few weeks and see if goes away naturally (which can over 3mth period). Or, get sample taken for analysis, to see nothing more 'sinister' present, which we're doing to air on caution side. Looks very similar, so up to you what to do? But, i would always say, if in doubt, get vet checked too. Hope that helps, and good outcome
