What food to feed?

what brand and food do you give your frenchie? My frenchie is on my perfect pet but poops a lot.

Do you give a formula that has added starches (potatoes, rice, etc)?

I'm currently giving Gus commercial frozen raw. I rotate between Answers, Vital Essentials, and K9 Naturals. I'm going to expand beyond this soon, to get in more of a variety of proteins.

His tummy does better with a food that has some veggie/fruit added, but I don't do starches. His stools are typical of a raw fed dog - small and not very frequent.

Jax gets frozen raw. Louie, my bulldog, gets Fromm.

How is the consistency of the poop? How old is he? How much are you feeding?

He eats my perfect pet turkey and salmon half a bar each meal and just started giving him primal goat milk

Looking at the ingredients, the second and third are yam and potatoes, so it's probably that. If you want him pooping less, I'd find a formula or brand that doesn't have starches.

My 5 month old pup poop often too. 4-7 times a day. She'll have a few days pooping 4 times but now usually 6. I brought her to the vet to check stool but was negative. Vet told me that maybe a food allergy and to cut all treats and then change foods (adult & ingredients) if the problem is still there since there is a small stain of blood in stool. After cutting off all treats, her stool became firmer and brown. (Healthy) but is still pooping 6 times. I am thinking of changing food next..... she's on fromm puppy gold now at 2/3 cup 2x daily. If you find another food that works , could you ping it to me. Also how old is your pup and how frequent is a lot to you.

Puppy food is rich so you can definitely switch her over to an adult formula now or an all life stages formula which Fromm has as well.

Cbrugs, How often does yours go. Frenchie on raw and the English on fromm? I dont know what to expect when she's older.

Jax (Frenchie) usually goes once, sometimes twice, a day and Louie (English) probably goes 4 times a day. Louie is bigger and eats more so that could be a factor but raw fed dogs tend to go less as their food is fresh versus processed.

Try Carna4 Duck at Global pet foods if you want to stay with kibble.

If you want to try frozen raw, you can buy NatuRAWls brand frozen raw quite inexpensively in a box of 6X2 pound slabs at Global pet food for about 40.00. My dog weighs about 34 pounds, so I semi thaw a 2 pound slab by leaving it in fridge for 8 hr, then cut it up in 6 pieces, then put it back in freeezer in ziplock bags. I put a ziplock bag in fridge 24 hr before serving to thaw out. I feed it mixed with a little bit of warm water (optional), and some coconut oil, turmeric, kelp, and Acti-flex 4000 ( you could put in ground pepper instead of Acti-flex to help with turmeric absorption ) .

Just an FYI that if you decide to go raw, not only do they poop less (Gus goes 2x a day max) they also hardly smell at all.

I will probably try raw in the future. I think one more try with an adult kibble first. Thinking of acana single just in case a protein causes her allergies later. Thanks for the posts.
