Hello All!

I have recently noticed something with our 1 year old frenchie. The whites of his eyes have gone a brown colour. It is only the parts that are normally exposed to the air when his eyes are open. So if I move his outer eye lid, I can see the part underneath is still very white.

We have recently changed his dry food from Royal Canin Junior to the Royal Canin Adult food, as directed by Royal Canin. His energy levels seem ok.

This is our first french bulldog so also not sure if it is normal/common?

Does anyone have any experience with this or anything similar?

Many Thanks!

What a cutie pie!

I've seen this happen a lot, not with just frenchies. I'm drawing a black as to why I read that it happens but I'm sure someone with some info on it will chime in soon!

I just wanted to say... Royal Canin is a horrible food, take a look at the breakdown on Dog Food Advisor, I'm certain that I just read something about them using feathers as an ingredient. Yikes.

Thanks blushy!

Yes, going to replace the RC very soon. We feed him a lot of chicken too, so maybe just need something to go along with it.

I've never seen that before..... but I agree about royal canin. It's not a good food. Try looking into orijen, or acana and comparing the ingredients and you will see what we are talking about!

Spoke to someone with some experience with the breed, who told me that the brown parts are caused by the eye lashes rubbing on the eye. Apparently it is quite common.
