Mila is a 5 month old French Bulldog who I have had for a week. Prior to getting her Mila had little to no training, but is currently being potty trained and crate trained. We live on the 7th floor of an apartment complex and must use the elevator to go up and down. Mila is having difficulty listening when her leash is put on (she also wears a harness). At times she will listen, but the major issue is trying to get her to go from the apartment to the elevator. Most times she will hunker down and not move. Once in the elevator, however, Mila is excited and easily goes out the elevator when we reach the first floor. She then happily goes through the lobby and outside to her favorite potty spot with no issues. After going potty I bring her for a walk in which she can often be stubborn. She likes to go where she wants to go and if not she will sit down and not move. This part, however, does not always happen. When it is finally time to go in though Mila refuses to go anywhere near the front and back door of the apartment complex. She will once again hunker down and not listen. We often have to then carry her inside, but once in the lobby Mila happily runs to the elevator and goes up to the apartment with no issues. Does anyone have any suggestions to help Mila want to go out of the apartment and also come back into the building?

Some of it sounds like Mila might be scared, but it's hard to be certain since she is also stubborn about walks. She definitely needs some leash training (mine does too, lol). I'd first focus on getting her in and out of the apartment without a hassle. Tasty treats need to be involved - treats that are highly motivating, and will keep her focused on you, and make the potty/walk routine highly pleasurable.

She sounds like a typical bulldog to me. They are stubborn and like to what they want, when they want. I usually use treats to lure my dogs back inside. When I take Jax for a walk, he knows when we are heading home and will put the brakes on and not move. So I pull out a treat and then he will come.

Give her some time too since you have only had her for a week. As mentioned, keep some high value treats handy to lure her with and give her a "let's go command".

My dog is like that too. If she doesn't feel like moving she will lie down and roll around and she looks like she's laughing at me with her mouth wide open and she even makes weird noises, almost like she really is laughing. I think it's a bulldog thing.

Sometimes I think that she looks like she's been hit by a car when she lies at side of road. I'm worried that traffic will stop to assist her.

Cheli is the opposite... he will walk forever if I let him... he doesn't want to go back in after out for a stroll

hahaha!! Yup, bulldogs and their sense of humour are infuriating and amusing all that the same time. :D
