Hi. I was wondering if anyone else has this issue or can help me? Ruby is out gorgeous nearly 2 year old frenchie. Since the moment we got her at 8 weeks she came out of her travel crate and attacked our other dog. We tried puppy pre school but got kicked out as she attacked all the other puppies. She goes to doggie day care twice a week and is good with the other dogs out there but when she is with me she has a go at any dog near us. We have just kind of lived with it but it's really getting bad now. We tried taking her to a local frenchie group walk because we thought she would be ok as some of the dogs go with her to doggie day care but it was a horrendous experience for all. She screamed like I was stabbing her and tried attacking everything that moved. She is very anxious when I walk her and starts wining and screaming when she sees another dog... at home she is such an amazing loving dog. Any suggestions?

:welcome3: to FBN.

It seems Miss Ruby is feeding off of your emotions... think of all you explained in your post, she is good at home and at daycare.. her comfort zones. But when you are out and about walking or interacting, she is on guard. it seems she is picking something up from you that she feels the need to protect and keep others away.... be sure you are relaxed and not anticipating something, walk with head up and shoulders back (you are alpha and she needs to know it)... have confidence with her or her instincts will be to be the confident (dominate) one.

Have you done any training with her to show her that you are the leader? It sounds like she thinks she needs to protect you and this would occur if she was alpha.

Have you tried a trainer? Some of them will come to your home.

Hi, yes we have just started working with a trainer so hopefully that will help us. I was just wondering if anyone else may have had this problem and if they managed to get it under control. 😊 Looks like I've done something wrong somewhere, I've just never had this with any of our dogs before. It's like she arrived to us pre worked up as she has been like it since the first moment we got her. I think I'm being the alpha but I'm obviously missing something with miss ruby. 😩

Wally is out of control around other dogs, he's just way too excited to greet with manners. I've tried many training tips but they only work when he's inside. He's completely different outside. I have just started to read a clicker training book and bought a clicker so I hope to get started on that soon once I finish the book. I'll let you know if I have any luck.

Rosie was fine and would play with local furriends and had no problems. When she had her luxating patella surgery over a year ago she developed aggression and will not play with anyone now. Trying to also break this habit she developed

You have had some good advice, and good luck with the training. Be firm and really consistent with her!

I am also having these problems with my frenchie. He lunges, bites at, and screams at any dog that we walk by. It's stressful and I wish that he can just be friendly with other dogs!

I've tried trainers and dominance training... I'm also a confident/calm walker. Let me know if you find any solutions!

Update on clicker training:

It's only day 2 and I am doing it on my own as opposed to hiring a trainer, but so far Wally has responded well to the clicker. I used steak (sous vide striploin no less lol!) as the treat and he actually looked at me on a walk when there were people coming our way. That's a first! He's so easily distracted by everything outside. I think he's going to do really well with clicker training and I can't wait for him to be calm enough to actually greet dogs. I hope to teach him some cool tricks too.

The biggest hurdle is to train myself to think differently. Clicker training is so different from the obedience classes I went to when he was younger. Patience is also a big part, which I do not have, but I'm working on it. :)
