Heyyy
Hopefully someone is online and can help me

Aikos face is swollen and she is covered in hives

Should I take her to the emergency vet? I have never experienced this before . I have given her a benadryl already about 20 mins ago

Picture of her face?

Adding: Can you think of anything she's gotten into?

The thing I worry the most is if her face is swollen and the hives are bad, they could be in her throat too...

Is she lethargic? Or showing any signs of stress with breathing?

I'd probably take her in...

How is she doing? I would take her in. My Maizy has had this twice, and they give a steroid shot and a Benadryl shot. Ours was a reaction (both times) to the oral bordetella vaccine. She can only get the injection for some reason. Has your baby had vaccines lately?

She hasn't had any vaccinations however we changed her dinner kibble meal to fish about a month ago and I believe that is causing it. I didn't end up taking her in because the benadryl kicked in and we also had a anti inflammatory from when banksy was stung which we gave to her as well. I gave her a benadryl this morning and am going to just feed her 100% raw today and see how it goes. Poor baby!

Her face is usually a little pink but not that pink and big
Within 40 mins of benadryl her jowls were soft and not puffy anymore but they were super firm and enlarged

I can see how swollen it is, I've dealt with something similar when we tried beef with Isabelle. It's quite a scare! Glad the meds kicked in so it wasn't such an emergency situation. Love having my cabinet stocked with doggy meds! Makes me less nervous when I have a stock pile.

Yeah for sure. I would have no problem taking her to emergency vet however if they're just going to do what I can do here I'd rather take care of it myself.

I looked inside her mouth and her tounge wasn't swollen and she was breathing Fine. If any of those things were different taking her in would not have been a question

That must have been scary. Glad she is doing better.
It was scary! I just went home to check on her and she is fine. I'm almost certain now it's the fish! Interesting how the symptoms of a food allergy can be delayed like that.

Sorry so late to this, but if it happens again, you can double the Benadryl dose.

Glad to hear she is fine! The benadryl is pretty short acting- only lasts at most 6 hours, so you may need to repeat. The anti-inflammatory won't help so you don't need to give that.
