Hello everybody,

I am hoping to get some ideas from you...I am quite desperate and don't know what to do. I have a beautiful Frenchie girl Shea, she is almost 9 months old and is with me for 6 months. For the last two months we've been struggling with allergies. She was then on Grain Free Farmina kibble. It started one morning when she (out of nowhere) developed bumps all over her body. Went to the vet, said it's allergy - unlikely food allergy- and gave her an allergy shot + some medicine to take home. Next day she started vomiting, didn't want to eat...we went back, they gave her a shot to stop vomiting and stomach medicine - she had to stop taking allergy medicine. After two days the allergy was back, bumps all over, swollen eyes, itching everywhere. Went for yet another visit to the vet, she got a shot for allery. And the next day, the vomiting started again. That cycle repeated several times. In the meantime I changed vets, cause I felt they are just giving her shots after shots, while she was more and more miserable. I feed her now with Farmina Ultrahypo (as recommended by new vet, who thinks it is food allergy), giving her stomach medicine every day and allergy medicine for 10 days. She is now off of allergy medicine for three days and I can allready see happening it all over again. She scratches all the time, licks her paws, drives on her bum and doesn't want to eat (at least no vomiting - yet!). I don't know what to do. We keep the house as clean as we can, her things are washed regularly with natural soaps, I don't feed her anything except the prescribed kibble, I wash her every week with sensitive shampoo and wipe her eyes and ears daily. I don't want the whole cycle to begin again. I tried to switch her on raw diet in the past but she started vomiting after three days (I fed her raw gradually).

Any ideas? I'll be gratefull for any information.

P.s.: Sorry for my english, it's my second language :)

Welcome.... she is a beauty!!

Farmina is a very good food... so it might be the protein. if it is chicken switch to a different protein, like duck or pork. I had a female bulldog that broke out in hives from chicken... slightest piece and 'poof' major hives, eye swollen and bumps every where.

:smileywelcome: to you and Shea. I agree with Christine, it could be the protein in the food. We had a blood allergy test done on 2 Bulldogs and it showed that Ruggles was allergic to most proteins and potatoes. Once we got him on food he could tolerate the symptoms went away. Same thing with Bulldog Mack!

Not sure what foods are available in Slovenia, but you might want to gradually switch to a grain free dehydrated raw if there are any there. She will be less likely to throw those up than a frozen raw. If you can only get frozen raw, try an easily digested protein that she hasn't had before like duck or turkey or rabbit.

Other supplements good for allergies include probiotics, organic virgin coconut oil, turmeric ( with ground pepper for absorption ), and antihistamines such as cetirizine.
