All,

I have been having anal gland issues with my 2 1/2 yr old frenchie for about a year now and its beginning to get really frustrating. I have tried added Pumpkin to his food (I feed him Fromm Brand Kibble - Since 8 weeks old). I recently began feeding him 1/2 Fromm Kibble and 1/4 of a Raw Patty of Stella and Chewy's (1/2 a Patty Per Day) as well as Pumpkin. I usually have his Anal Glands Expressed every 2 weeks. Recently I had them Expressed on 11/18/17 and I can already smell a fishy smell. His stools look nice and firm now.

Yesterday I ordered Glandex Powder to try. If this does not work - I do not knew where else to turn. Suggestions?

I have issues with our Bulldog... do you give a probiotic? I give the pumpkin with raw goats milk and it keeps them in check.

Some of the Fromm formulas have a lower fiber percentage. My bulldog gets Fromm so I have been adding in a pinch of unsweetened, dried coconut flakes to up the fiber content and he does fine with that.

I have no idea if this is true or not but I have heard that once you express the anal glands, you will always have to. Again, I do not know if there is any truth to this.

I do not give him any probiotic. What Form of Pumpkin do you give? I use This (The only ingredient is pumpkin)

I usually give him a scoop in the morning and night with a teaspoon. What amount do you use?

How do you feed the raw goats milk? Can you link me to the product you use? I know they have some specifically for dogs from a google search.

Thank you.

He should get plenty Fiber from the Raw Patties Bone Content, no? I used to feed him 1/2 cup of Fromm Kibble twice a day. Now he gets 1/4 Cup Fromm Kibble and about 1/4 Cup Raw Patty twice a day.

I too have had the anal gland issue and am equally frustrated...I had like less than 2 weeks ago her anal gland ruptured and I paid over $200 for the vet to anesthetize. pack it and today she was scooting...I have done pumpkin, I have been using glandex since she ruptured and am about to lose my mind.
We have had her on a probiotic since very young since she has been to the vet for digestive issues too. Vomiting and diarrehia here and there....we now feed wellness simple dry
Read where you can give bran, steamed green beans and sweet potato for fiber so now will try that....any other suggestions are so appreciated!!!
It just seems like I cant get a good resolve, she is 4...
