Bisou sleeps with us a couple nights a week (the nights where her gigantic puppy eyes get to us!) but we wish she could sleep with us more. The unfortunate thing is we have to choose between getting a good night's rest and snuggling with our girls... we don't want to choose! The problem isn't her being in the bed with us, it's the fact that every single morning she wakes up at least an hour before my alarm for work goes off and starts licking our faces and running around the bed. If we don't get up, she jumps off the bed and starts loudly playing with Shasta or running circles around the bed scratching at the frame. It drives us nuts! The only somewhat solution I've found is to herd them into the living room and shut the door to get one more hour of sleep. Of course, my fiance goes right back to sleep with no problem, but since I get up around a bit, it's near impossible for me to get back to sleep!

They don't wake us up early on the nights they sleep in the living room, so I'm not sure if she wakes up early every day and we just don't hear it or if it's only when she sleeps with us. I don't know what to do! I'd love to sleep with her every night, but daily coffee I'd need to ward off tiredness just doesn't jive with me. I know lots of you sleep with your Frenchies - how does it work for you? Did you ever go through this with them? What can we do??

UGH! Cheli used to do this, but he has stopped. What I did when he did this, was just make him lay back down and go to sleep -- took a couple corrections, but he eventually got the idea. Now with Lambeau, i keep some toys at the foot of them bed and if he wakes up, he just goes and chews on them till the alarm goes off

I was in my 50's when I stopped letting our Bulldogs sleep on our bed or even in the bedroom; that was in the mid 1990's. Getting a good nights sleep is too important to me. The boys each have their own crate and they sleep comfortably in our laundry room where they have a pet door that leads out to their paved and fenced dog yard.

Not much help here...we have the same problem with Stella. She wants to get up before anyone else is ready. Sometimes I can scratch and rub her back to sleep, but not always. I wish I could just put her down off of the bed, but I would worry she would pee in the house because she won't go through the dog door. Jake, on the other hand, will saw logs as long as you want him too!

Hudson was like Bisou as a puppy. He slept in his crate because I was not interested in a 5 am wake up call. Now that he's an adult, he'll sleep till 11 if you'll let him. She might grow out of it.

I don't have a dog that sleep with me, but I am hoping when I get my Frenchie later in the year that she will sleep with me peacefully. I'm thinking I will put her crate in my room for a week or two until she gets used to living with us, then I'll try her in the bed with me. :) Sleep is important to me though, so if she doesn't do well, it's back to the crate.

Gidget sleeps with us. She was never one to get up and run around. The puppies haven't made the cut yet b/c my husband thinks it would upset the apple cart...

Wilson went through a spell not long ago where he would wake up ( they spend the night in our bathroom) at 3 or 4 and just bark, bark, bark until I got up, gave him a little bite to eat and took them out. And needless to say, husband went right back to sleep and I didn't. I finally figured out that he was getting cold, switched where they sleep and not a peep out of him.

Good luck!

I would think that once she gets older, she will stop that, especially if you correct her like Christine 2bullymama suggested.

Jax has been sleeping in the bed with us since he was about 4 months. He actually goes to sleep for the night around 630 pm, sometimes a little earlier and sometimes a little later. He'll sleep through the night for about 12 hours. I wake up early during the week for work and he stays in the bed while I get ready.

He will cuddle with me during the night and at first it was uncomfortable but now I am used to it and hate when he's not right next to me.

His new thing on the weekends is to wake up around 630-700 am, and as soon as I look at him or move, he goes to the pillow and sits on my head, literally.

We get up, I feed him, sit on the couch and then he goes right back to sleep.

Pepper used to wake up at night until she was about 4 month. She used to sleep beside the bed in her puppy bed and she would get up and cry to take her to the bathroom. Afterwards we would have to stay with her and pet her 'till she went to sleep again...this happened 3-4 times a night! Sleeping was a commodity! :) Then she slowly moved to waking up 2-3 times a night, then 1-2 times a night and now at 6 months she sleeps in our bed, she goes wee-wee before we go to sleep at around 11 PM-midnight and she doesn't wake up 'till morning when we wake up. Sometimes we wake up and she stays under the covers and sleeps some more, until she hears the kibble bag opening :)
She does have nights though, when she hears suspicious noise outside and she jumps up, starts barking like crazy, jumps out of the bed, goes to the door, comes back to the bed 2-3 times and if you let her be she comes back to sleep. At first we would get up and go to the door to show her there's nobody there but now we just let her bark and she settles down in 5 minutes or so. She's our little guardian! :)
