Hi everyone! Charlie is now almost 9 months old. Unfortunately, over the past two months he has developed some weird awful allergic reaction to something. At first we thought it was environmental, but now I'm starting to think it may be food allergies. The vet said since it all started for Charlie at such a young age, food may be the culprit. He gets awful itchy in his stomach, and legs...and poor boy will scratch till it's raw. We tried two rounds of antibiotics and a steroid. The steroid obviously helped. But I don't want him to be forever on steroids!

Right now, we are feeding both our frenchies Blue Buffalo. Chunks doesn't seem to have an issue with it. We have been feeding Charlie the puppy formula (dry kibble) and I'm wondering if I need to change it? Any recommendations on which allergy dog foods worked best for your frenchies ? I don't want to spend a fortune (we have a baby on the way), so budget friendly d brand recommendations would be appreciated :) thank you!

I'm going through the same thing with my 8 month old puppy. He got his first allergy shot a few weeks ago, but we have not seen a difference in his rashes or itching. Our vet gave us apoquel to hoId on to if things get worse, but recommended not using it until Knox is one year old. We have tried Fromms Heartland Gold Puppy, Acana Pork & Squash, Call of the Wild Salmon, and a few others. Our vet has recommended keeping him off chicken and beef, as these types of proteins tend to cause allergies. As of last week, he gave up on eating his dry food all together! So frustrating. This morning I started him on a raw diet - Primal's Raw Frozen Lamb and some probiotics. He gobbled it up. Hoping this finally helps him, but we'll see!

Try a differnt protien... maybe pork or fish and go grain free with the Blue Buffalo --- see if it helps. I've had may pups allergic to chicken, salmon, rice, corn and soy -- so it could be anything.

Are they on probiotics? My boy's quite allergenic too, I find adding this to the diet, aside from tweaking it helps.
